Organized Storage and Craft Room

One of my goals has been to get our house organized before the end of the year. I want to be able to tell my husband where something is located within three sentences. Here’s an example.
Hubby: “Hey, honey do you know where the green paracord is?”
Me: “In the storage room in the bin marked paracord.”
Hubby: “Honey, I’m out of saline solution!”
Me: “In the storage room in the bin marked eye care, dear.”
Our home has three bedrooms. We have our room, the guest room and the everything else room. The last room is where things just “got put”. You’ve probably seen these rooms before. If you can’t find a place for it, just put it in that room until another place opens up.
You see, my husband and I are both pack rats. We are working on that. We’ve had two yard sales and bestowed a couple of large gifts on Goodwill.
When I started working on the storage room I forgot to take pictures so you’ll only see the after pictures.
We purchased shelves from Lowe’s on Black Friday. They are normally around $80 but we got them for under $50 each. I started buying plastic bins in November. I bought some at Big Lots on sale and Dollar General when I had a coupon. By February I’d purchased enough bins for all of our “stuff”.
The picture boxes hold souvenirs, pictures, and postcards from trips we’ve taken. They’ll stay there until I decide to put them in scrapbooks.
It took two days, but it’s all done. I feel so much better! I know exactly where all four of my hot glue guns are now. Yep, see what happens when you aren’t organized? You forget you have something or where you put it, so you end up buying another one. Who knew getting organized could save money? I think I did but I just needed a little motivation.
