Kroger Deli Fried Chicken Review – Honestly

I have a full time job with an afternoon commute that takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour some days. The last thing I want to do is stand over a stove and cook. I had the chance to try the fresh deli fried chicken from Kroger in exchange for my honest opinion and I jumped on it.
I get to leave the office at 5:00 and join all the other commuters on the clogged streets of Savannah. There’s a Kroger on Mall Boulevard, which is on my way home, I just couldn’t remember if they had a deli. Much to my delight and relief, I can tell you there definitely is a deli in that Kroger.
Melony and Crystal were holding down the fort when I got there. Melony had just put out fresh take home boxes of fried chicken. This Kroger has hot and fresh chicken every day from 5:00 until 7:00, when most people are heading home. This is a plus!
The Kroger Co. Family of Stores guarantees that its Deli chicken offerings will be hot and fresh every day from 11 A.M. – 7 P.M. or it’s FREE! These hours are extended in some areas, so check your local store for details.
Fortunately, I didn’t have too much trouble getting home on the roads, but the smell of fried chicken was so tempting. I could have easily eaten a leg but I didn’t.
I was given a free 8 piece box, a bag of Kroger brand kettle chips and a one liter Coke product. Getting dinner on the table was a snap. I know, I should have had a vegetable but I’m married to a man who doesn’t like most things green.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I didn’t think my husband would like it as much either but I was completely surprised. The crust was perfect! Even after sitting in the floorboard of my car for 45 minutes, the crust was just crispy enough to give you a crunch but not too crispy.
We agreed that the chicken was very moist. We got two wings, legs, thighs and breasts. The breast meat was even juicy all the way through. Hubby was really impressed. He said it wasn’t salty like other deli chicken.
Kroger deli chicken is prepared using quality chicken, a special hand breading recipe and 100% trans-fat free oil. It’s fresh and never frozen. I think this makes a big difference.
As you know, we have fur babies but we don’t give them people food. They usually don’t pay attention when we eat our dinner, since we feed them first. If I had not taken a picture, you wouldn’t believe me. Soza, our plus sized kitty, wouldn’t leave us alone until he had a taste.
Again, we don’t feed him any human food but he was relentless!
Honestly, I would do this again for dinner. I’d even do this for lunch at the office when we have meetings. Kroger offers everything from baked and rotisserie chicken, tenders and wings to 8-piece Fried Chicken Dinners and 250-piece Party Packs. If you are looking for a quick and affordable option for dinner, you can get an 8 piece assortment, two hot sides and rolls for under $15.00.
This was a quick and easy way to take care of dinner. Next time, I’ll pair it with some green beans and biscuits though.
What can I say, I’m southern.
PS. Cleanup was a breeze!
