Working from home is a dream for some and a life saver for others. How do you know a work at home opportunity isn’t a scam? I’ve put together a list of companies that are hiring employees to work out of their homes. You’ll need a good computer and high speed internet to qualify. Some companies require land line phones, headsets and a quiet work spaces also..
Hourly pay may not look very attractive at first, but remember to keep in mind the savings you’ll realize from walking to work, rather than commuting each day. You’ll also save money on clothing. These are jobs you can do in your sweats and fuzzy slippers. Unless you need to Skype, you won’t even need makeup.
Alpine Access – Sykes Home
Many of their employees are retired or disabled, working part-time to supplement fixed incomes. It’s a great opportunity if you want to add some extra income without endangering your Social Security or Disability income.
Hours currently range from 32 to 38 per week. They offer paid training too.
Convergys is hiring in 35 states, including GA, TN, NC, SC, AL, FL. Check their webpage for more states. They do not require a land line.
Enterprise Holdings – Alamo, Enterprise and National Car Rental
They have openings in several cities. If your city isn’t listed, keep checking. Their listings are updated frequently.
I remember seeing Sitel call center jobs when I was in college. They’ve been around for many years. Sitel Work@Home division hires agents for inbound customer service calls. This means you aren’t cold calling.
These are road assistance and customer service positions. Hours are flexible. They do not require a land line.
West at Home
They offer medical and dental benefits.
These are just a few of the legitimate work from home opportunities out there. There may be costs involved in getting started if you don’t have a noise cancelling headset with a microphone or any other equipment required. I’ve heard of companies making employees pay up front for training and then reimbursing them after 60 days on the job. Please read all requirements very carefully before making a decision.
Working from home can be very rewarding for some people. Others may prefer to leave the house every day and have a change of scenery. For some, it’s a way to survive the struggling economy.
